Since 1997, Invisalign has become the “invisible” way to straighten teeth without braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gently and gradually straighten your teeth without metal brackets or wires. Our aligners are made of strong medical grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn. You will love the innovations and improvements in aligner designs which allow Dr. Galloway and Dr. Song to move your teeth the way you want, quickly and comfortably, in their convenient Bellevue location.

While Invisalign can be used with virtually any treatment philosophy, specific training is needed. Family Dental Care of Bellevue has been using this technology since 2003. Our doctors have had extensive advanced training over the years to hone their Invisalign skill. Because of their experience and training with Invisalign, Align Technologies has recently acknowledged Family Dental Care of Bellevue’s skill with the designation of Premier Provider. How Invisalign Works
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the entire treatment plan from where your teeth are now to the final desired position. This allows Dr. Galloway and Dr. Song the ability to customize the movement of your teeth. Once our doctors have completed this important planning step, a series of custom-made aligners are produced. Each aligner moves your teeth incrementally and is worn for two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.
Invisalign has a number of benefits:
- Invisalign is nearly invisible. You can straighten your teeth without hardly anyone knowing.
- Invisalign is removable. You can eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.
- Invisalign is comfortable. There are no metal brackets or wires to cause mouth irritation, and no metal or wires means you spend less time in the doctor’s chair getting adjustments.
- Invisalign allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan before you start—so you can see how your straightened teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
Like the brackets and archwires of traditional braces, Invisalign aligners move your teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force on your teeth. The principal difference is that Invisalign not only controls forces, but also controls the timing of the force application. At each stage, only certain teeth in your mouth are allowed to move. These movements are determined by your individualized orthodontic treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system specially tailored for you.
Invisalign can treat the vast majority of common tooth alignment problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or something more extreme, Invisalign can help.
Invisalign is successful at treating crowding or excess spacing of teeth. It can also be used to treat more complex cases such as overbites, under bites, and even crossbites. In fact, our experienced Invisalign-certified doctors can use Invisalign for all or part of almost any treatment plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Each person is different, and the Invisalign system is customized to the patient’s needs. Before you begin treatment, you will have a detailed consultation with your doctor to work out your particular treatment plan. Here we have compiled answers to some of the most common questions that patients have about Invisalign treatment.
How long does Invisalign take?
Most adults require approximately one year of treatment, while teens sometimes take a bit longer. The exact length of your treatment will depend on your unique situation, and will be clearly explained to you before you begin.
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of Invisalign at Family Dental Care of Bellevue is less than traditional braces. The pricing includes all aligners and appointments needed to update your smile. It even includes your first set of retainers and as a thank you we give all our Invisalign patients a fresh set of bleach and bleach trays to whiten your new perfect smile. Additionally, if you have a dental insurance plan that covers orthodontics, our Invisalign treatment will be coverage in the same way traditional braces would. Speak with your doctor about your costs and insurance coverage for specific invisalign pricing information.
I already have braces. Can I switch to Invisalign?
In most cases, it is possible to switch from braces to Invisalign. Your braces must come off first, so that the doctor can make accurate impressions of your teeth. You will be given a retainer to wear for approximately four weeks while your first set of custom aligners is prepared.
If Invisalign is removable, is it a good choice for teens?
The short answer is yes however teens are an interesting mix of adult and child, extremely responsible one moment and then highly forgetful the next. Invisalign Teen is designed to meet the unique challenges of teens. Built-in sensors let both parents and doctors know if the teen is wearing the aligners properly. In addition, the Invisalign Teen system includes six free replacements for aligners that are broken or lost.
Do the aligners hurt?
Most people agree that Invisalign removes most of the pain and irritation associated with traditional braces. It is common to feel some discomfort during the first day as your mouth adapts to the fasteners that are bonded to your teeth. This is generally minimal and short-lived. Each subsequent set of aligners typically causes little or no pain, as they are designed to match the changing shape of your teeth.
What can I expect after treatment?
With Invisalign, you will not experience the dramatic “reveal” associated with having braces removed. You will know from computer simulations what your final smile should look like, and you will have tracked your own progress through the different sets of aligners. Instead of looking completely different, you will simply see your own natural, beautiful smile.
It is very important that after treatment, just as with traditional braces, you wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from moving out of alignment. Make sure you follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid undoing any of the effects of your Invisalign treatment.
