Porcelain Veneers

Studies have shown that your smile is often one of the first things a person will notice about you. A beautiful smile can positively impact every phase of your life. If your teeth are healthy but unsightly, porcelain veneers are an excellent way to wake up your smile. Very thin, strong, and durable, they can even give you that Hollywood look you have always dreamed about!

Porcelain veneers and your smile

Dental porcelain reflects light in much the same manner as your natural teeth, which makes it easy to blend your new veneers with the teeth that will not receive veneers. Alternately, you can choose to cover all of your teeth with brighter, whiter veneers without worrying that they will look fake. While not a good investment for baby teeth, this is an appropriate material to use for adult teeth that exhibit staining, wear, cavities, or are just misshapen. With parental approval, they can be placed in teens and older kids who have all their permanent teeth.

Dr. Austin and Dr. Galloway use only the finest, most durable porcelain to ensure that you will be thrilled with your new smile. Highly color-stable and not prone to breaking or wearing down, porcelain veneers are a better long term choice than composite bonding. Although less expensive at the outset, composite bonding does not have the same long range expectations as veneers, due to the fact that it uses an inherently weaker and less color-fast material.

About our doctors

Dr. Austin and Dr. Galloway do not grace magazine covers or appear on top 10 lists of cosmetic dentists. This is not a reflection on the quality of their work, but rather a testament to their laid-back and unpretentious style. The truth is, Family Dental Care of Bellevue has been doing single and multiple tooth makeovers for over 30 years. Our doctors’ artistic skills can be truly appreciated when you notice that each finished restoration or complete smile makeover has its own unique look based on the patient’s original smile. You will not find a “cookie cutter” smile at Family Dental Care of Bellevue. Take a look at our gallery to view multiple examples of our work.

Dr. Austin grew up in Seattle. He earned his undergraduate degree at Washington State University, and graduated from the University of Washington Dental School. He is an Invisalign Premier Provider and holds an Advanced Cerec Certification. Dr. Austin has been serving Bellevue for more than 30 years, and is well known in the local community for his caring and gentle approach.

A native of Maine, Dr. Galloway graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She then expanded her training through a general residency program affiliated with Yale. Dr. Galloway joined Dr. Austen’s practice in 2011 and became a full partner in 2014. Her reputation for gentle, yet highly professional, treatment has grown quickly with children and adults alike.

Options and treatment extensions

Our doctors always strive to create an individualized treatment plan based on your own unique needs, goals, and financial situation. For example, in some cases, Dr. Galloway and Dr. Austin will suggest whitening the teeth instead of, or in addition to, placing porcelain veneers. This can be a cost-effective alternative to full-mouth veneers for those who want whiter teeth, especially if your natural teeth are in good shape.

Invisalign is another option that can augment the placement of porcelain veneers. This nearly invisible, virtually painless process moves the existing teeth into a more perfect position. This means that we can remove little or no tooth structure prior to placing your veneers. It only makes sense that the less tooth structure removed, the stronger the tooth will ultimately be, and the greater the chances of your veneers lasting a lifetime.

Before agreeing to complete any veneer case, our doctors will always take the time to find out what your objectives are for your smile. They will then suggest all the various treatment options available to you and review the costs of each of your available options. In many cases, at Family Dental Care of Bellevue, less is definitely more!
