CEREC Same Day Crowns
CEREC technology is what makes single-visit crowns possible. Instead of goopy impressions, we take a digital scan of your tooth, design the crown on screen while you watch if you like, and mill it from a solid block of dental ceramic right here in our Bellevue office. The crown is shaded to match your surrounding teeth, checked for fit and bite, and cemented in place the same day. CEREC crowns are strong, natural looking, and with normal care last as long as traditional lab-made crowns. Most appointments take about two hours from start to finish.
Same day crowns work well for cracked or heavily filled teeth, teeth with large cavities, and teeth that have had a root canal. If you have been putting off a crown because of the time involved, this is the version that fits into a single afternoon.
3D Printed Restorations
We also use in-office 3D printing to expand what we can deliver in a single visit, including options that preserve more of your natural tooth.
Veneers. Thin, custom-shaded facings that transform the color and shape of front teeth, designed digitally and printed to a precise fit.
No-prep veneers. For the right candidates, we can place printed veneers with little or no removal of natural enamel. That means no drilling and, for many patients, no numbing. It is also a fully reversible option for improving your smile.
Crowns. 3D printed crowns give us another same-day option for restoring a damaged tooth, with a digital design process that produces an accurate fit and a natural appearance.

How much does a CEREC same day crown cost?
It depends on your insurance coverage. With insurance, your out of pocket cost typically ranges from about $200 to $2,000 depending on your plan and whether the tooth also needs a buildup, which is a foundation placed under the crown when a lot of natural tooth structure is missing. We verify your benefits and give you an exact estimate before anything starts.
How long does the appointment take?
Plan on about two hours. Only around 30 minutes of that is actual treatment time. The rest is spent designing and milling your crown right here in the office while you relax.
Will I need a temporary crown?
No. Because the permanent crown is made and placed in the same visit, there is no temporary to wear and no second appointment to come back for.
Is a same day crown as strong as a lab made crown?
Yes. CEREC crowns are milled from a solid block of dental ceramic, and with normal brushing, flossing, and regular checkups they last as long as traditional lab made crowns.
Can I have a root canal and crown done on the same day?
Often, yes. When a tooth needs both, we can usually complete the root canal and the permanent crown in one appointment so you leave with the tooth fully treated.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is fully numbed before we begin, so you should not feel anything during the appointment. Some mild sensitivity for a few days afterward is normal and fades on its own.
